Recycling is a sustainable bonus, as it allows us to reuse many “non-renewable materials” that have been made into commercially sold products, so DO IT YOURSELF!

Food Production

Statistics tell us that 70% of the world’s population is fed by small-scale farmers however these subsistence farmers are the poorest and most food insecure people in the world. This could quickly be reversed if alternatives to their conventional farming methods were introduced to improve yields.

According to the International Food Policy Research Institute, world needs to produce more food with fewer resources.

Agroecology is an alternative method of farming that mimics natural ecosystems, uses fewer resources producing much higher yields. It has been practiced in Africa by subsistence farmers with amazing results. According to a UN report, within 3 to 10 years crop yields doubled, soil quality dramatically improved and production costs where down.

Permaculture is an brilliant ethical design system for the application of agroecology. It was developed in Australia in the 1970s based on a blend of agroecology and indigenous farming systems. In practice, permaculture farms are organic, biodiverse, low-input with very high output.

Through our courses you have the opportunity to learn everything you need to know about all types of food production and system design from small balcony gardens, backyard gardens to hobby farms and broadacre farming.

Natural Building (Bio-Construction)

Natural building, also known as bioconstruction, is wonderful way to reduce your ecological footprint and big step toward your goal of achieving sustainability.

When building naturally we focus on durability and the use of minimally, or when possible, unprocessed materials and resources that are plentiful and or renewable. We also make use of any recycled or salvaged materials that produce healthy living environments and maintain indoor air quality.
It all begins with the design! In a well-designed project, before construction begins, we need to consider the location, aspect, climate, suns path, winds, access, personal needs etc to decide on the style of construction and the most appropriate materials to use to ensure maximum energy efficiency, both during construction and when you are living in your new home.

With natural building, although we use a combination of recycled resources and renewable raw materials, if done well, the finished structure should be a functional work of art that blends in with, and enhances its environment.
Natural Building comes in many styles made from a range of materials and techniques, for example Adobe, Cob, Cordwood, Bamboo, Earthbag, Rammed Earth, Stucco, Stone, Straw bale, Round timber frames, Palm Branches (penca), and so on.

Our courses cover the theory and practice in everything you need to know about
  • Building Materials & Methods
  • Design
  • Construction
  • Chronobiology

Homesteading Skills & Cottage Industries

Growing your own food is an important part of a sustainable lifestyle but there are many other skills just as important to an independent way of life.

Through permaculture we produce wonderfully lush, nutritious whole foods and ingredients for the kitchen, but these foods need to be preserved, stored and or cooked. We will teach you how best to do this!

There are thousands of household items that can easily be made from recycled materials and products as well as from renewable materials nature provides us with. Our courses will fill your head with some amazing money saving ideas and show you how it’s done!

Many of these items can also be made for sale as what is known as "Cottage Industry". In tropical regions such as Panama there are some wonderful opportunities in the areas medicinal herb production - teas and tinctures, essential oil production - citronella, lemongrass, turmeric, cinnamon, vetiver,  ylang ylang to name a few. Bamboo is another fast growing product that can open many income earning opportunities. It can be produced for fiber, building material, furniture and food products and best of all it is a renewable resource.

Holistic Health

Holistic Health is a lifestyle, a way of living life that emphasizes the connection of mind, body and spirit.

While modern medicine focuses on specific part of the body or perhaps an illness, this ancient approach to health takes into account the person as a whole, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and how he or she interacts with his or her environment.

Holistic Health is based on the law of nature that a whole is made up of interdependent parts. As with anything, living or mechanical, when one part is not functioning properly it affects all the other parts.

One can achieve optimal health, the primary goal of holistic medicine practice, by gaining proper balance in life.
Holistic Health is an ongoing process. As a lifestyle, it includes a personal commitment to be moving toward the right end of the wellness continuum. No matter what their current status of health, people can improve their level of well-being. Even when there are temporary setbacks, movement should always be headed toward wellness.

Holistic Health practitioners strive to reach higher levels of wellness as well as preventing illness. People enjoy the vitality and well-being that results from their positive lifestyle changes, and are motivated to continue this process throughout their lives.

We facilitate workshops and seminars in…

Acupuncture, Energy therapies, Hypnotherapy, Meditation, Nutrition, Yoga, Cleansing and detox, Chiropractic care, Homeopathy, Massage therapy, Naturopathy,
